With an aim to connect the Australian businesses to India’s bolstering digital and innovation ecosystem, Australian PM Anthony Albanese on Wednesday announced the opening of the new Australian Consulate General in Bengaluru, India's state of Karnataka.
Albanese made the announcement while addressing a joint press conference in Sydney.

“The Bengaluru establishment will be the fifth diplomatic presence that is there in India from Australia and I look forward to returning to India in September for the G-20 leaders’ summit,” Albanese said, as he welcomed Modi to the nation.

Before the press conference, the two leaders exchanged the MoUs on mobility, migration, and green hydrogen task force.

Albanese also touched upon the Quad summit, which took place in Japan's Hiroshima on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit.
The Australian PM elaborated that his visit to India for the Australia India Annual Leaders’ Summit in March next year would focus on the key pillars of both the countries’ relationship trade, investment and business cooperation, defence and security cooperation, climate and energy cooperation, and of course, people-to-people ties.
Talking about the bilateral meeting with Modi, the Australian PM noted that both the leaders further built on those pillars and reiterated the shared ambition for an early conclusion of the Australia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement later this year.
On the Australia-India Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement, Albanese said that “This arrangement will promote the exchange of students, graduates, researchers and business people, expand our people-to-people ties, and enhance cooperation in preventing people,” he stated.
