Outgoing Twitter CEO Elon Musk was mocked by social media users on Sunday after he issued an apology over the highly influential messaging app occupying too much space on the mobile phones of users.
"Sorry this app takes up so much space," Musk tweeted along with a picture of other applications mentioning the screen space they take on phones.

However, Twitterati quickly found out that Musk copied the very same screenshot for his apology tweet that another user had posted a few weeks ago.
"You know you made it when Elon steals your meme," a user posted in response to the Tesla founder's tweet.
"ELON MEME THIEF," another user chimed in.
On the other hand, a few suggested that Musk should ask Twitter engineers to rectify the problem.
"Do something about it," a third posted.
Earlier this month, Musk revealed that he was stepping down as Twitter CEO, handing the reigns of the company to former NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino.
Since then, he has scaled back his time at Twitter and has vowed to focus more on Tesla, the crown jewel of his massive business empire that also features SpaceX.
