Ukraine Launches Large-Scale Offensive in Donetsk Region on 4 June: Russia's MoD

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Ukrainian armed forces launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the South Donetsk direction, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lt. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

"On the morning of 4 June, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction by introducing into battle the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from the strategic reserves of the armed forces of Ukraine with the support of other military units and divisions," Konashenkov said.
He noted that in total Kiev involved six mechanized and two tank battalions in order to break through the defense lines of the Russian Armed Forces
"The enemy did not achieve tasks," Konashenkov added.

NATO Keeps Leveling Up Capacities of Weapons Supplied to Ukraine

Weapons supplied to Ukraine by Western countries are becoming more and more advanced, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday, adding that possible deliveries of long-range missiles are fraught with a new escalation.
"Indeed, the level of tactical and technical characteristics of the weapons that are going [to Ukraine] is constantly rising. Now we can already see the beginning of discussions on the supply of missiles with a range of 500 kilometers [310 miles] or more from France and Germany. This is a completely different type of weapon," Peskov told Russian reporter Pavel Zarubin, adding that such deliveries would bring about a new phase of escalation.
