BSF Shoots Down Another Pakistani Drone in Amritsar

Border Security Force troops shot down six Pakistani drones in different incidents between 19 and 31 May.

A Pakistani drone that sneaked into Indian territory near the international border in Amritsar was shot down by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, a spokesperson said on Thursday.
BSF personnel heard the buzzing sound of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Bhaini Rajputana village in Amritsar at around 9 p.m. (IST) on Wednesday, the spokesperson of the paramilitary force told the media, adding that after sighting it, they opened fire.
Later, the BSF and the Punjab police conducted a joint search operation and seized the drone in a damaged condition in a field adjacent to the outskirts of the village.
An official stated that the recovered drone was a quadcopter of model DJI Matrice 300RTK series.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, BSF troops seized at least 2.5 kg of heroin dropped by another Pakistani drone in the Tarn Taran district.
While talking about the incident, a spokesperson said that BSF personnel had detected the drone coming from the Pakistani side around the same time on Wednesday near Wan village in the district and intercepted it.
They then spotted a suspicious motorbike coming from Wan and flagged it down, but the rider sped away towards Mari Kamboke village.
Troops chased down the bike and found it abandoned in the village. A search operation was conducted, and a consignment of heroin weighing 2.5 kg was found, the official said.
He also said that it is suspected that the bike rider was carrying the packet after it was dropped off by the drone.
