India's junior women’s hockey team beat South Korea 2-1 to clinch the final of the Junior Asia Cup tournament in Japan on Sunday.
Players Annu and Neelam scored a goal each, while Park Seo-yeon marked for South Korea.
Earlier, Hockey India announced a cash prize of INR 200,000 ($2,400) for each player, while support staff will receive INR 100,000 ($1,200).
By reaching the final, India also secured a position in FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 in Chile, which will be held from November 29 to December 10.
“The final match brought about a considerable amount of nerves. However, we knew that as a team we have to play our best game to achieve something special and that’s exactly what we did. We are elated to make our nation proud," Indian Captain Preeti said after the win.
