Meet 16-year-old dancer Srushti Sudhir Jagtap from Latur district of India's Maharashtra state who has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest dance marathon. She danced non-stop for five days straight for an impressive 127 hours.
In the photos that are doing the rounds on the internet, Jagtap can be seen performing Indian classical dance, Kathak, on stage at her college's auditorium in front of a jam-packed audience.
She started her performance on the morning of May 29 and continued dancing til June 3.
"There were moments of her being too tired, but her parents were by her side all the time, spraying her face with water to keep her fresh," Swapnil said. "A very impressive performance overall," GWR Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar said.
After her performance, Jagtap slept for an entire day.
For her dance marathon, Jagtap started preparing for it for the past 15 months.
She was trained by her grandfather, Baban Mane, who taught her Yog Nidra, a form of guided meditation also known as 'yogic sleep'.
