Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will commemorate the International Day of Yoga on board the country's largest warship INS Vikrant on Wednesday, an official release said.
"Armed forces personnel including Agniveers will participate in the event embracing the spirit of unity and well-being. After the yoga session, the Raksha Mantri (Defense Minister) will address the gathering and felicitate the yoga instructors," a statement from the Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
Among other participants in the event will be Indian Navy chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar and his wife Kala Hari Kumar who serves as the president of the Naval Welfare and Wellness Association.
Besides the chief of the Naval Staff, his spouse, and the defense minister, other senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and officers of the Indian Navy will be performing Yoga onboard India's largest warship.
Meanwhile, in a separate communication, the Indian Navy noted that it has been an "ambassador for yoga across the seas for several years now and yoga sessions are scheduled at most foreign ports visited by Indian Naval ships".
This year, the Indian Navy is supporting the International Day of Yoga at a global level.
India's blue water force added that as part of its Yoga Day activities, port calls are planned at Chattogram (Bangladesh), Safaga (Egypt), Jakarta (Indonesia), Mombasa (Kenya), Toamasina (Madagascar), Muscat (Oman), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Phuket (Thailand) and Dubai (UAE) by ships Kiltan, Chennai, Shivalik, Sunayna, Trishul, Tarkash, Vagir, Sumitra and Brahmaputra, respectively.
Overall, around 3,500 personnel of the Indian Navy will act as yoga ambassadors on board 19 naval vessels in national and international waters.
"International Day of Yoga celebrations are also planned on board ships of several foreign navies in concert with our overseas Missions, involving over 1,200 foreign navy personnel," the Indian Navy concluded.
