Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party (SP) lawmaker Amitabh Bajpai has found a unique way to register his protest against the waterlogging issue in Kanpur city.
Bajpai placed a boat on top of his SUV and started his march from Sarsaiyya Ghat of Kanpur and many areas, including Bada Chauraha, Meston Road, Moolganj, Express Road, and Phoolbagh.
Bajpai said this was a symbolic demonstration, and through his protest, he was trying to bring the attention of the authorities to the frequent waterlogging on the roads in Kanpur.
Bajpai even urged the city’s residents to use boats for commuting and carry life jackets.
Meanwhile, Kanpur traffic police issued him a challan of INR 2,000 for violating traffic rules.
With the arrival of the monsoon, Kanpur has been receiving incessant rains for the past 10 days, due to which many streets and low-lying areas have been inundated with rainwaters.
