Torrential rain in parts of India has left several dead and hundreds of tourists and locals stranded due to the blocking of road, including the national highway.In a Monday bulletin, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in several states, including Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR and Maharashtra for the next two-three days.Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh, hundreds of tourists are stranded in Mandi district as the Mandi-Kullu national highway is closed after a flash flood near Mandi district. Over 200 people were left stranded due to another flash flood in the Bagipul area near Prashar Lake.Six people reportedly died due to the unrelenting rain, and ten were injured.In Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was blocked for vehicular traffic following landslides in the Mehad region.Two people died in India's Uttarakhand after heavy downpours. Last week, the state government postponed trekking to pilgrimage sites until further order in order to safeguard the safety of the devotees. The state weather department has issued an orange alert for many districts.In all these states, many people are shifted to government shelters after residents' homes swept away due to rains or landslides; states also reported the loss of livestock and vehicles and others due to flash floods.Meanwhile, in the northeastern state of Assam, four people died, 407,771 were hit and 15 districts were impacted. As per the state government data, 220 relief camps have been opened, where 81,352 residents have taken shelter.Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that he had assured Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of all possible help to deal with the situation.In Delhi, a woman died on Sunday due to electrocution amid rainfall.

As the monsoon arrived in many parts of India, every state had a different effect on it. However, northern India's hilly states: Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh annually report landslides and heavy downpours after the arrival of monsoon season.

IMD also advised the farmers to make adequate arrangements to avoid the consequences of rain: "Damage may occur to standing crops, fruit plants and young seedlings. Farmers are advised to make adequate arrangements to avoid the direct impact of rain, thunder and lightning on the new plants. Farmers are advised to reschedule the spraying of insecticides."
