Tech giant Wipro announced plans to invest $1 billion into Artificial Intelligence (AI) over the next three years on Wednesday.
The company explained in a statement that the investment would focus on expanding AI, big data, analytics solutions and developing new research, development and platforms.
"Wipro Ltd., the Indian outsourcing provider, plans to spend $1 billion to train its 250,000 employees in artificial intelligence and integrate the technology into its product offerings," the release stated.
“With the emergence of generative AI, we expect a fundamental shift up ahead for all industries,” Wipro Chief Executive Officer Thierry Delaporte said. The company also launched Wipro ai360, its AI-first innovation system.
The tech giant announcement came a week after its rival Tata Consultancy Services said it would be training its 25,000 engineers to get them certified on Microsoft's Azure Open AI.
