A shocking incident was captured on camera where a ferocious leopard snuck into a private residence and attacked a defenseless dog who was peacefully sleeping outside the entrance of a house in Maharashtra state's Nashik city.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday evening.
The horrifying incident, captured on CCTV, shows a giant leopard creeping into a bungalow and trespassing the garden area.
The wild feline can be seen slowly approaching the entrance of the house, where a dog is fast asleep. The leopard suddenly pounces on the slumbering canine and, with its powerful jaws, grabs the dog by its neck, and tries to escape with its prey.
Alarmed by the noise, another dog sleeping in the compound wakes up and rushes toward the leopard to scare it off, barking at the top of its lungs. The shocked leopard leaves the dog and rushes toward the lawn area.
Both dogs end up chasing the wild cat away, though the wild feline later returns to the residence, but again gets driven away.
Vrishali Gade, Forest Department officer, at Nashik told an Indian news agency that the leopard might have come from the field area close to the residence.
Upon receiving the call regarding the leopard spotted near the residential area, the forest department promptly initiated an extensive search operation and strategically positioned traps in key areas to capture the leopard.
During another incident that occurred on Wednesday evening, the sets of the Marathi TV serial "Sukh Mhanje Nakki Kay Asta" were filled with panic as the crew noticed a leopard strolling above one of the structures on the premises.
The video of the incident, which reportedly took place in Film City in Mumbai's Goregaon district, shows some people running off the sets to a safer place, while others record the footage on their phones.
