A major landslide hit the T2 Marog Ramban on the Jammu- Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), blocking the road leading to Kashmir Valley on Wednesday.
The Jammu and Kashmir traffic police told the press that the annual pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine has been temporarily suspended from the Pantha Chowk base camp to Jammu. It will only resume once the national highway roads are completely cleared for smooth traffic flow.
The 62-day-long Amarnath pilgrimage, which commenced on July 1 will culminate on August 31, 2023.
The traffic police, along with the district administration, have been working on clearing the roads.
Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been made ahead of the Independence Day celebration on August 15, and Budda Amarnath Yatra, which will begin on August 17.
