The tulip garden in Srinagar city in India's Kashmir has entered the World Book of Records (London) for being the largest tulip garden in Asia.
Situated in the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains, the picturesque garden in the foothills of the Zabarwan Range is no less than a blast of colorful flowers from white to magenta.
Adorned with 1.5 million tulips of 68 varieties, the garden includes new hybrids and rare species. It also provides a habitat for some rare species of birds, including black-necked cranes and spotted owlets.
Listed under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the garden also has a rich cultural heritage as it is home to many ancient monuments, tombs, and shrines such as the Hari Parbat Fort, which was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1590.
