India-Greece Elevate Partnership to Strategic Level

Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first Indian leader to visit Greece in over 40 years.

India and Greece will enhance the level of their ties to form a strategic partnership, the prime ministers of the two countries, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Narendra Modi, announced following their discussions in Athens on Friday.
"Prime Minister Mitsotakis and I decided to take India-Greece relations to the level of strategic partnership," Modi noted in a statement, subsequently, released by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Furthermore, the MEA press release mentioned that Athens and New Delhi have agreed to form an "institutional platform for dialogue" between the national security advisors (NSAs) of both nations.

Also, Modi and his Greek counterpart chose to give a boost to their military relations.
"In the field of defense and security, we agreed to give a boost to defense industries, along with military ties," Modi elaborated.
Other areas in which the two countries have agreed to cooperate are agriculture and trade.
As per Modi's media statement, the bilateral trade between India and Greece was growing at a rapid pace, and there was immense scope to expand it.
In this light, the two countries are aiming to double their trade by 2030.
