Sputnik International News Agency and Radio have launched a 24-hour Arabic broadcast from Beirut, taking over the frequency previously occupied by BBC Arabic.
Users can tune in to the new channel starting today. The BBC had suspended all broadcasts in Lebanon in January due to funding problems.

"Back in 1938, when the BBC first started its radio in Lebanon, it chose the slogan 'This is London' as its opening line. Now the news bulletin starts with 'This is Moscow.'"

Dmitry Tarasov
Chairman of Sputnik Radio in Lebanon
Sputnik Radio has exciting plans to expand its presence into Syria, offering captivating talk shows led by well-known Arab journalists, as well as a diverse range of programs exploring subjects from Cairo to Moscow.

“Our main focus will be placed on information and analytical content. We will address the hottest international topics and matters affecting Lebanese society since local audiences resonate with social issues the most."

Lina Andreichenko
Sputnik Arabic's Managing Editor for radio and podcast content
Additionally, the Sputnik Arabic frequency will broadcast several programs produced by RT Arabic.
Sputnik Arabic commenced broadcasting on February 4, 2015, and established a multimedia hub agency in Cairo the same year. With the power of FM radio, its official website, and user-friendly mobile apps, Sputnik Arabic has a total audience of three million people in Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria.
