A drone with a package suspected of containing narcotics was recovered by Border Security Force (BSF) in a paddy field in the Kalsian Khurd area of the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, the security force said.
According to an official release of the BSF, forward-deployed security troops intercepted the movement of the drone late in the evening on Monday.
“Further, during search operations carried out ahead of the Border fence, BSF troops recovered a drone which is a Quadcopter (Model - DJI Matrice 300 RTK) and the gross weight of the recovered narcotics is 2.7 Kg”, the BSF release stated.
It further said that yet another attempt by smugglers to send narcotics by drone had been foiled by vigilant BSF troops.
Many incidents of drones entering India from Pakistan have been reported in the recent past.
The 500 km border shared by India and Pakistan alongside Punjab is guarded by the BSF, and the security troops shot down numerous drones in the months of May and June.
