During a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al Sudani, the Russian President explained how the current global situation worsened due to the United States' inadequate foreign policy.
"The Ukrainian crisis continues, and, unfortunately, we see a sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle East. I think that many will agree with me that this is a clear example of the failure of the policy of the United States in the Middle East, which tried to monopolize the settlement, but, unfortunately, was not concerned with finding compromises acceptable to both sides, but, on the contrary, promoted its own ideas about how it should be done"
The Russian president emphasized the importance of carrying out UN Security Council decisions to establish a independent and soverign Palestinian state. Putin also pointed out the harmful effects of the United States' interference in Middle Eastern politics, which has caused pressure to mount on both parties with little consideration for the well-being of the population.
"The US put pressure on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, each time without taking into account fundamental interests of the Palestinian people."
The Russian President urged everyone involved to minimize harm to civilians in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel within the confines of Gaza Strip. According to the last availiable data from Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of civilian casualties has risen to 704, with more than 3.9 thousand injured.
"Damage to civilians in Palestinian-Israeli conflict must be minimized and reduced to zero, Russia calls on all parties to do this."
Russia and Iraq are Successfully Coordinating Work Within OPEC+ Framework
Apart from an ongoing confrontation in the Middle East, Vladimir Putin positively depicted how Russia and Iraq are successfully coordinating work within the framework of the OPEC+ alliance to stabilize the situation on global energy markets.
“We are coordinating work within the framework of OPEC+, and we are doing this very successfully, with the goal of stabilizing the situation on world markets. In general, we are succeeding. And I hope we will continue to work this way,”
The Russian leader stated that like several other nations, Russia believes that the strife between Palestine and Israel should end at the earliest opportunity to minimize losses and achieve a mutually acceptable agreement.
Putin also invited Iraqi prime minister to discuss Israel-Palestine conflict and other relevant issues in face-to-face format.
