A delegation of the Russian Federal Assembly headed by Speaker of the Federation Council (FC) Valentina Matvienko has left for India to participate in the G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit, the press service of the upper house of the Russian parliament reported.
The delegation includes First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Turchak, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, and member of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management Tatyana Gigel, as well as deputies of the State Duma.
The theme of the event is "One Earth. One family. One Future". The forum's programme includes four sections:
"Sustainable Development Agenda Until 2030: Demonstrating Achievements, Accelerating Progress";
"Transition to Sustainable Energy: Gateway to a Green Future";
"Achieving Gender Equality: From Women's Empowerment to Women-Led Development";
"Changing People's Lives Through Public Digital Platforms".
The programme of the Russian delegation's visit also includes negotiations with representatives of the Indian leadership.
At the end of the Ninth G-20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit, a joint final statement is planned to be adopted, the report says.
