The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully restored the air-launched BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the Bay of Bengal, marking a significant achievement for indigenous combat systems.
The air-launched BrahMos missile test-fired from a Su-30MKI fighter jet - equipped to launch the BrahMos cruise missiles - has now been shown to have a long range.

A Defence Official told Indian media that a Su-30MKI jet fired the BrahMos air-launched missile, and that the missile struck a target from a greater distance than before.

The missile is supersonic and has been developed by India with the help of Russia, and it is one of the country's special weapons.
India has been working to create an air-launched BrahMos cruise missile that would be able to hit enemy targets at long ranges.
The results of the latest two-user tests of the land attack missile system by the Indian Air Force were excellent, according to sources, with missiles hitting their target on both occasions.
India is negotiating with more than a dozen nations to export the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. BrahMos Aerospace's Director-General Atul Dinkar Rane said in July during the BrahMos Industry Conference 2023 that the company is working on hypersonic, precision-guided weapons and other variations of the supersonic cruise missiles that exist at present.
