Against the backdrop of the military conflict in the Middle East, the Indian textile company Maryan Apparel has temporarily suspended its uniform contract with the Israeli police. Speaking to media, the company's managing director, Thomas Olikal, said the decision was morally justified.
Maryan Apparel said it had to stop supplying uniforms after news of the shelling of the Al-Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas militants reported hundreds of deaths and blamed the Israel Defense Forces for the incident, while Israeli authorities insist that a rocket fired by the Islamic Jihad* group exploded near the hospital and went off course.
The textile company said it would not accept new orders from Israeli authorities until "peace is restored."
* Islamic Jihad is recognized as a terrorist organization and is banned in Russia.
