On Saturday, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged the nation's youth not to be misled by the military doctrines of Western armies, and instead focus on the "cultural-strategic legacy" of the Indian Armed Forces.
Singh's comments came during his address on the sidelines of the Indian Military Heritage Festival, which he opened in New Delhi.

This is the first time the Military Heritage Festival has been staged in the country, to showcase India's rich military culture and heritage.
"Despite a long and glorious military history and strategic culture going back many centuries, people are largely unaware of [India's] different facets," a statement from India's Ministry of Defense said.

The two-day festival, held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, is set to end on 22 October.
