Former Pakistan Prime Minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif will contest the upcoming national assembly polls, his party announced on Monday.
Days after ending his self-exile and returning to homeland, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) head during a party meeting has asked his partymen to start preparing for the polls, Geo News channel reported.
The elections are set to be held on February 8, 2024.
It was the maiden meeting of the PML-N founder Nawaz Sharif at the central secretariat after his return to Pakistan. During the meet, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Senior Vice-President and Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and others were present.
After the meeting, former Defense Minister and PML-N politician Asif told media persons that Nawaz Sharif would fight the upcoming elections.
During the meeting, the party's future political activities and prevailing political situation were discussed. Nawaz Sharif stated that the party would restart the journey to development from where it was left off.
