Ex-FM Bilawal has raised crucial issues such as the need for timely elections and equal opportunities for all political parties, as influential PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif makes his comeback from self-exile.
Former foreign minister and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for early elections and a "level playing field" for all political parties in the country.

The PPP leader claimed that during the 2013 general elections, the judiciary under Iftikhar Chaudhry had become "a partisan actor with clear favourites in the elections", Dawn reported.

Noting that in 2018, the judiciary again became a partisan actor with clear favourites in the polls, Bilawal remarked: "It is hoped that this time it will be different."
The PPP chairman also said that delaying the elections was tantamount to denying them.
Bilawal was speaking at a function organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Constitution of Pakistan on Monday, he stated that "delayed elections are denied elections."

"Given the events we witnessed over the weekend, I hope there will be no further delay [in announcing election dates]," he said, in an oblique reference to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif's recent return from London.

The PPP leader made the remarks at a time when the Supreme Court of the country has dismissed the probability of conducting the general elections within the 90-day time stipulated by the Constitution of the country.
Caretaker PM Hopes for Poll Announcement

Meanwhile, Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has said he hopes the country's election commission - the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) - will soon announce the date for general elections, which are widely expected to be held in January 2024.

He stated that his ''government desires that no political party, entity and its associated political players be outed from the [election] process,'' The Daily reported.
However, in case any restrictions were imposed by the court, "we have to obey the orders”, Kakar added.
