Three former Pakistani cricket captains have hit out at their fellow ex-cricketer Sikander Bakht's allegation that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma rigged the coin toss for the semi-final against New Zealand.
Bakht made the allegation during a Pakistani channel's show after Team India humbled the Kiwis on November 15 in Mumbai. He claimed that the Indian captain was "deliberately throwing the coin far to win the toss."
Legendary Pakistani cricketer and former captain Wasim Akram expressed his embarrassment over Bakht's allegation on a sports channel. "Who decides where the coin should land? The mat is just for sponsorship! I feel embarrassed. I can't even... I don't even want to comment on it."
Meanwhile, two other former Pakistani cricketers and captains -- Moin Khan and Shoaib Malik -- have also slammed the allegation made about the style of tossing a coin to play the match.
"He is mistaken, just creating a fuss. Every captain has a different way of tossing the coin," ex-wicketkeeper-batter Khan remarked. However, Malik stated: "This shouldn't even be discussed."
The Indian cricket team was wowed by cricket fans all over the world also for the sublime performance particularly of two players -- right-arm fast-medium bowler Mohammed Shami's seven wicket haul, and master-blaster Virat Kohli's memorable inning.
Kohli broke legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries in one-day internationals during the match with his 117-run knock -- the 50th 100.
