Earlier, former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez trolled Virat Kohli, terming him "selfish".
Ex-Pakistan cricketer Sikandar Bakht has continued the trend of making controversial statements about Team India, with the latest accusations coming following India's semifinal victory over New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Bakht, an expert on a Pakistani television show, suggested that India skipper Rohit Sharma "cheated" during the toss, which eventually helped the home team put a big total on the board and pave their way to Sunday's final.
"At the time of the toss, Rohit Sharma throws the coin far from the range of any opposition captain. Thus, the opposition captain cannot go and cross-check about the call," he noted.
Soon after his comments, "cheating" started trending on Twitter, now rebranded as X, with many Team India supporters blasting him for his remarks.
Some stated that Bakht's words sounded like those of a "jealous" man, as the Pakistan cricket team failed to qualify for the semifinals.
However, Bakht isn't the first retired Pakistan cricketer to stir the internet with statements on Team India or its players.
