Indian foreign minister S Jaishankar is likely to visit Russia this month, sources told Journalists on Monday.

The exact programme of the visit hasn’t been worked out yet, sources said.

The expected visit would be the first by the Indian foreign minister since his trip to Moscow last November.

It is expected to focus on further bolstering cooperation between the nations on a host of bilateral and multilateral issues, including trade and connectivity as well as increasing coordination in multilateral organizations such as BRICS, G20 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
India is the outgoing president of SCO and G20, while Russia is the incoming chair of the BRICS grouping.
India and Russia have maintained high-level contacts through 2023, including meetings between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Jaishankar on the margins of G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in March and the SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in May.
Both the meetings were held in New Delhi. Besides, Lavrov also represented Russia at the G20 Leaders' Summit in New Delhi on 9-10 September.
The two top diplomats also met on the margins on the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in South Africa in June and on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit (EAS) in Jakarta in September.
In April, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov also visited New Delhi, where he along with Jaishankar co-chaired the 24th session of the India-Russia Inter-governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).
The two sides said that would intensify talks towards an India-EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) Free Trade Agreement to unlock full potential of the economic ties.
