Forest rangers have successfully captured and relocated a leopard after it killed a three-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu state.
Three-year-old Nancy suffered fatal neck injuries after the attack by the big cat on Saturday.
Tamil Nadu's Forest Department and rescuers kick-started the search and rescue operation and also brought in to hunt for the leopard in the tea estate of the Pandalur range in Gudalur forest in the Nilgiris. A jumbo elephant named Kumki from Madulamai Tiger Reserve was also used.
Tea plantation workers and locals, including children, were prohibited from leaving their homes.
Videos of the search and rescue operation are doing the rounds on the internet showing the captured leopard being relocated to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
