In the run-up to the consecration of the Ram Temple in the city of Ayodhya, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) politician Tej Pratap Yadav has made a bizarre claim saying that Lord Ram had appeared in his dream and said that there is hypocrisy going on in his name, so he won’t come on 22 January.
The Bihar minister further said that Ram is forgotten once the elections are over.
The RJD politician also referred to Shankaracharyas, pontiffs of the four mutts, who have refused to attend the ceremony, citing their dissatisfaction with the disregard for the rules of Sanatan Dharma.
There have been no comments either from the RJD or from the BJP regarding Yadav's claims. However, Tejashwi Yadav, his brother and Bihar Deputy State Chief, had previously stated that people should exercise caution when making statements about religion.
Tejashwi Yadav's comments followed those of his cabinet colleague, Chandra Shekhar, who suggested that individuals will “seek medical attention rather than visiting a temple if they fall sick”.
