The preparations for the consecration of the Ram Temple in the city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh state are into their final leg. The grand ceremony is scheduled for 22 January and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event.
Officials at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust have cancelled the procession fo a new idol of the Hindu god Ram around the city of Ayodhya ahead of the grand consecration of the Ram Temple.
The tour of the city was scheduled for 17 January so that the devotees could get a glimpse of the new idol of Ram Lalla, the child form of Lord Ram.
However, the officials have arranged a tour of the new idol inside the premises of the Ram Janmabhoomi on the same day.

The decision to cancel the event was taken after the security agencies raised concerns about crowd management, a senior functionary of the trust told media.

He added that that the decision was made after officials of the trust met the Acharyas (spiritual leaders) of Kashi and senior administrative officials.
While talking to the media after the meeting, the Ayodhya district administration officials told media that it was discussed in the meeting that it would be difficult to control the crowd as devotees and pilgrims will rush to have “darshan” — the spiritual experience of beholding a deity — of the new idol of Ram Lalla when it is taken out in the city.
The consecration of the Ram Temple is scheduled for 22 January and Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh State Chief Yogi Adityanath will attend.
Invitations for the grand ceremony have also been sent to some members of the opposition parties, Bollywood celebrities, prominent personalities and holy figures.
