“We are deeply anguished by the terrifying, brutal, & heinous incident that led to the death of Indian National/student Mr Vivek Saini & condemns attack in the strongest terms. It is understood that the US authorities have arrested the accused & are investigating the case,” the Indian Consulate wrote.
The deceased student who had recently completed an MBA in the US, was attacked with a hammer by a homeless drug addict. According to media reports, the 25-year-old student was helping the accused for the past couple of days in Georgia state’s Lithonia city.
Saini worked as a part-time clerk in a shop where the accused took shelter, media reports said, adding that the deceased offered him chips, cola, water and even a jacket. But when Saini asked Faulkner to leave or face police action, he was hit over 50 times with a hammer.
Saini had moved to the US two years ago after completing his bachelor's degree in computer science from Chandigarh University.
This is not the first time an Indian student has been killed in the US. An Indian student named Neel Acharya, who had been missing since Sunday, was found dead on the campus of Purdue University on Monday.
