Taliban-Ruled Afghanistan Seals Deals for Solar & Power Infrastructure Expansion

Amid Taliban* control, Afghanistan's Ministries of Finance and Energy, alongside Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, finalize multimillion-dollar contracts with private firms to boost solar energy and power infrastructure.

Afghanistan's Ministries of Finance and Energy and Water, together with Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the country's Taliban-controlled power utility, signed contracts with private companies at a ceremony on Sunday.
The contracts, which focus on construction and power generation, include the installation of 23 megawatts of solar power capacity in the Sarubi district of Kabul province, the development of two substations and the extension of a 220 kilowatt transmission line.

“Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat leadership in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and director of Emirate state-owned corporation’s delegation, has signed two major power production and development projects worth approximately 43 million US dollars at government information and media centre. These projects include a 22.75 MW solar power generation facility in Naghlu and the construction of high voltage lines and substations in Herat”, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat posted on X (Former Twitter).

During the event in Kabul, Taliban representatives urged investors to participate in the country's development, highlighting the favourable investment climate.
