Defense relations between India and Greece have been witnessing positive momentum since Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Athens last year. Another high profile, this time from Greece to New Delhi, seems timed to cement this cooperation.

Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and General Dimitrios Choupis, who is the Greek General Staff Chief, held talks in New Delhi on Monday to enhance maritime cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries.
"Gen Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff Greece on a visit to India, met with Adm R Hari Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff on 8 April 2024. Discussions covered measures to further enhance Navy to Navy cooperation & collaborative efforts towards ensuring peace, stability & maritime security," the Indian Navy said in a statement.
The Greek Defense Chief's visit to New Delhi comes amid growing military ties between the two nations, with Athens showing interest in acquiring the widely acclaimed BrahMos missile from the South Asian sovereign state.
Earlier this month, the Greek City Times claimed that Athens was eyeing the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile to bolster its defenses against arch-rival Turkiye.
Greece has a long-standing feud with Turkiye over the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, which is at present governed by both Ankara and Athens.
