The St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University 'LETI' and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) have signed an agreement to jointly launch a Master's dual degree program aimed at training specialists in the field of advanced microelectronics.
Anastasia Minina, vice-rector for international activities at LETI, told Russian media that students from India will first undergo training at CUSAT, then at St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University 'LETI'.
'LETI', which is one of the leading technical universities in Russia, have also collaborated with CUSAT to develop an additional education programme for teachers.
In May 2024, seven teachers from CUSAT, which is engaged in training and research in the field of applied engineering, fundamental technical disciplines, law and management, will participate in training in St. Petersburg as part of the "New Generation of Electronic Component Base" programme.
Both universities are also in the process of developing their second program: "Photonics and Quantum Electronics."
“I believe that this step will benefit our universities and our countries and will contribute to the process of internationalization of higher education and academic cooperation. The development and implementation of this program was made possible thanks to the help of the Ministry of [Science and Higher] Education of the Russian Federation and the Rosatom State Corporation,” Minina said.
This initiative will promote more academic exchange and collaboration, enhancing education experiences for students from both countries, as well as fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two nations.
