Pakistan is the most expensive country to live in Asia, says a report published by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the report published earlier this week, Pakistan is facing extremely high levels of inflation, with a 25 percent surge in prices of essential commodities while its economy is growing at one of the slowest rates among emerging markets of the continent.
Pakistan's economy is expected to grow by 1.9 percent in the current financial year.
Last year, Pakistan was on the verge of a sovereign default, with foreign exchange reserves deteriorating to alarming levels — just enough to sustain imports for three weeks.
The South Asian country received financial assistance from China and extended the tenure of payments granted by Middle Eastern partners Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
