"The allegations against Garcetti are something that they cannot be overlooked. Of course, he is not directly accused of any sexual misconduct. However, the fact that people who worked closely with him are accused of sexual misconduct and he, allegedly, overlooked it, or, as he has claimed, 'did not see it', does not show him in good light; particularly, when he holds such an important office," remarked political analyst Prashant Pandey, who has co-authored bestselling book BBC's True Lies.
"Otherwise, it may continue to affect Garcetti's image not only back home, but here in India too," he warned.
"The allegations of perjury against US Ambassador Eric Garcetti tarnish his reputation. However, the issue is an internal matter of the US government and they need to figure out how to deal with the matter," Sheikh told Sputnik India.
The comments come against the backdrop of an investigation by NPR claiming that Jacobs had a "reputation for touching and forcibly kissing people on the lips without their consent", according to his former staffer Yashar Ali.
