"I think that it is the resolution of political issues that is at the forefront now. In parallel, various economic spheres are being discussed, where dialogue can be imposed. From the Arctic to cooperation on the climate agenda. Therefore, it is still very early to talk about any specific projects," Dmitriev, the CEO Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO, said.
Russia and US can cooperate in field of rare earth metals, and Russia is open to US partners investing in deposits, Dmitriev added.
"The economic dialogue is underway, but it is not currently in the format of specific short-term projects. It is in the format of various areas where we could be useful to each other," Dmitriev stated.
Further, he commented that despite political obstacles, European businesses see potential and maintain contacts with Russia.
"Yes, we are in contact with Europeans, including our colleagues from the European Union. We see many political difficulties there for resuming contacts, but we see that European businesses believe in Russia, want to cooperate with Russia and see great prospects in this cooperation. Therefore, we believe that we will be able to establish a good dialogue with Europe," Dmitriev said.
Additionally, he said that there are great prospects of joint projects with companies that have left Russia, including using US technologies.
When asked about whether he is discussing with the US the lifting of sanctions against him, Dmitriev answered in the negative.
