Pakistan Appoints ISI Chief as NSA Amid Tensions with India

Pakistani government has appointed Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, the incumbent dire­ctor general of the country’s premier intelligence agency, as the new National Security Adviser (NSA), Dawn news reported on Thursday.

Muhammad Asim Malik now becomes the country’s tenth National Security Adviser.
A notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday confirmed that General Malik will continue in his role as DG ISI, a position he has held since September 2024.
It's the first serving ISI chief to also hold the position of NSA, Dawn said.
