"If you're wondering whether any of our brave soldiers were harmed during the operation—the answer is no. None of our personnel were injured," Singh said during his address.
The operation was launched overnight on May 7 by India’s Ministry of Defence in retaliation for a terrorist attack near Pahalgam, in the Jammu and Kashmir region, which occurred on April 22. The attack killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
Following the attack, Indian authorities claimed to have evidence linking the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan to the assault. However, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly denied any involvement by the Pakistani state in the Kashmir incident.
During Operation "Sindoor", India targeted what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” on Pakistani territory. Pakistan later conducted retaliatory strikes.
On May 10, both countries agreed to halt all cross-border shelling and military actions, and to begin talks aimed at de-escalation and troop withdrawal from border areas and frontline positions.
