The report, titled Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risks, acknowledged that such groups had resorted to violence in their attempt to create a so-called "Khalistan" on Indian soil.
To sustain their activities, the report notes, they make use of a variety of funding channels — including cryptocurrencies, state financing, the misuse of charities, and outright criminal enterprises.
The Indian government has repeatedly accused former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of giving "political space" to pro-Khalistan extremists, who are seen as a crucial vote bank for the Liberal Party.
