"Closer cooperation between us contributes to the development of your country, as well as to regional stability and resilience. To strengthen this, I am pleased to announce today the upgrade of the Indian Technical Mission in Kabul to the status of the Indian Embassy," Jaishankar said at talks with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
He also said that India and Afghanistan share a mutual vision for growth and regional prosperity, yet both nations continue to face the destabilizing effects of cross-border terrorism. Tackling this threat requires closer coordination and a unified stance against all forms of extremism. India values Afghanistan's understanding of its security concerns and acknowledges the expression of support following the tragic Pahalgam attack, Jaishankar stressed.
"Your solidarity with us in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack was noteworthy. India is fully committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of Afghanistan," the MEA underscored.
