Many Countries Want to Buy BrahMos Missiles: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted India’s growing defence capabilities while addressing naval personnel aboard the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. He said that since 2014, the Indian Navy has commissioned more than 40 indigenously built warships and submarines.

“These massive ships, high-speed aircraft, and submarines are impressive on their own — but it’s your spirit that truly brings them to life,” Modi said as he celebrated Diwali with the Navy.
He praised India’s missile systems for their performance in Operation Sindoor. “Our BrahMos and Akash missiles have proven their capabilities. The very name ‘BrahMos’ makes some people uneasy — and now many countries around the world want to buy these missiles,” the Prime Minister said.
Commenting on India’s progress in defence manufacturing, Modi noted that the country is developing the capacity to export weapons and equipment for all three branches of the armed forces. “Our goal is to make India one of the world’s leading defence exporters. In the past decade, our defence exports have increased more than thirtyfold, thanks largely to defence startups and indigenous manufacturing units,” he added.
