The Russian-Indian defense manufacturer BrahMos will take several years to complete its BrahMos-NG (Next-Generation) missile, the Indian deputy head of BrahMos Aerospace, Chandrasekhar Chilukoti, told Sputnik on Monday.
BrahMos Aerospace says on its website that BrahMos-NG will be a "smaller, lighter, smarter and stealthier" derivative of the existing BrahMos missiles. It also describes the new missile as "an incredibly versatile, lethal and a universal precision-guided system" that will be equipped with intelligent controls and next-generation avionics, among other enhancements.
"We are working on it... I believe this might take several years," Chandrasekhar told Sputnik.
Over the years, BrahMos has developed several versions of missiles that are used by all types of military forces: the army, navy and air force, he added.
