Indian Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi noted that New Delhi has always provided assistance to countries in the region during disasters and emergencies.
“Our cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), maritime security, and the blue economy is growing rapidly. In this context, we are declaring 2026 as the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the ASEAN countries and India are united not only by geography, but also by deep historical ties and shared values.
"India has always fully supported ASEAN centrality and ASEAN’s outlook on the Indo-Pacific.,” Modi stated.
He expressed confidence that the partnership between India and ASEAN is becoming “a cornerstone of global stability and development.”
