Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that he will participate in the upcoming ASEAN-India Summit in Malaysia via video link, according to a post he made on social media platform X.

"Had a warm conversation with my dear friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia. Congratulated him on Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and conveyed best wishes for the success of upcoming Summits. Look forward to joining the ASEAN-India Summit virtually, and to further deepening of the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," Modi wrote.

Earlier, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Modi would not be able to attend the summit in person due to the ongoing Diwali celebrations in India at that time.
Indian media reported that External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is expected to represent India at the summit in Kuala Lumpur.
The ASEAN leaders’ summit will take place in Malaysia’s capital from October 26 to 28, with the leaders of the United States, Brazil, and South Africa already confirming their attendance as special guests.
