Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent visit to India was "quite successful."

"India, being and remaining a sovereign state, conducts foreign trade operations and purchases energy resources where it is beneficial for India," Peskov told reporters, when asked whether agreements regarding Russian oil supplies to India had been reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to New Delhi.
India will continue to pursue its economic interests, the spokesman added.
Earlier on Friday, Peskov told media that India needs to calculate whether it would be more profitable for the country to continue buying oil from Russia, despite the position of the United States, Peskov said. "India is a big buyer of Russian oil. And India earns quite good money from it," the Kremlin spokesman explained.
The Russian leader's state visit to India took place on December 4-5. Earlier on Friday, he held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and later that day, he held a separate meeting with Indian President Droupadi Murmu. During the state reception, Putin noted that the talks had been held in an open and constructive atmosphere.
