The Federation Council of the Russian Parliament has ratified the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and India on the procedure for dispatching military formations, warships, and military aircraft to the territories of the two countries.
"Ratification of the agreement will facilitate the development and strengthening of military cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India, and will establish a simplified notification procedure for calls by warships of the Russian and Indian navies to ports in both countries, as well as the use of airspace and airfield infrastructure by military aircraft of both countries," the explanatory note underscored.
The agreement defines the procedure for a wide variety of cooperative arrangements between the armed forces of the two sovereign states, including the dispatchment of military formations, the usage of airspace and airfield infrastructure, and the conduct of port calls for warships.
Besides, it gives clear instructions about providing logistical support to the troop formations of Russia and India when they are engaged in a joint military drill, training or a humanitarian aid or disaster relief mission.
This agreement was signed between Russia and India on February 18, 2025, in Moscow.
