"During the conversation, the heads of the two countries' foreign ministries exchanged views on a wide range of urgent issues related to cooperation within the G20," the ministry said.
The forum's importance as a key platform for international economic cooperation and an equal dialogue based on consensus for reaching agreements on global governance issues was reaffirmed, it said.
The telephone conversation was requested by the South African side, the ministry said.
