Speaking to Sputnik India on the sidelines of the summit, Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, underscored Africa’s expanding role in shaping the future of international development and governance.
Magwenya noted that the declaration places Africa’s priorities—such as debt sustainability, climate justice, climate resilience, and value-addition for critical minerals—firmly at the center of the global development agenda.
"It is pleasing to see the world edging closer to consensus on how these issues should be addressed," he said.
He also emphasized India’s growing role in the G20, praising its advances in pharmaceuticals and technology and highlighting strong bilateral ties. India, he added, will play an important role in advancing the declaration’s goals at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
Addressing the absence of senior U.S. leadership during the presidency handover, Magwenya said the symbolic gesture mattered less than the summit’s substantive achievements.
