India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to further enhance cooperation and coordination to protect and promote regional peace, stability and prosperity, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement was released after EAM Jaishankar and his UAE counterpart co-chaired the 16th India–UAE Joint Commission Meeting and the 5th round of the India–UAE Strategic Dialogue on Monday.
According to the Indian readout, the talks covered the entire range of bilateral agenda, which include trade, investment, energy, connectivity, defence, security, development partnership, technology, health, culture, education and people-to-people ties. Expressing satisfaction on the depth of the bilateral cooperation, the two top diplomats agreed on new initiatives and an "action-oriented agenda" to further deepen ties across priority sectors.
The MEA statement also noted that the foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional and global issues of interest, including the situation in West Asia (Middle-East).
"They reaffirmed commitment to implementation of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and also work for the Global South. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah expressed UAE’s support for the AI Impact Summit to be held in India in February 2026 and also for India’s Presidency of the BRICS in 2026," the MEA readout said.
Meanwhile, the regional security situation, which includes the ongoing efforts to implement the Gaza Peace Plan, also figured in talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jordan's King Abdullah II in Amman on Monday. Prime Minister Modi landed in Amman on Monday, the first stop in his three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman.
Briefing reporters in Amman, MEA officials said Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's support for the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
MEA's Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra said that PM Modi, in his talks with King Abdullah II, reiterated New Delhi's longstanding position on the Palestinian issue.
"We know that the first phase (of the Gaza Peace Plan) is in force and we hope that it brings lasting peace to the region. We also participated at the Sharm-el-sheikh conference. We have a longstanding position on the Palestinian issue. We support efforts towards a just and durable peace. Anything that builds or contributes towards building just and durable peace in the region, we support those, efforts," Malhotra said.
