India Reiterates Support for Gaza Peace Plan
Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar told his Bahraini counterpart that there is an "unprecedented change" not only in the region, but also around the world.
India has reiterated its support for the Gaza Peace Plan, unveiled by US President Donald Trump last month, during a foreign ministers' meeting at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday.
"I take the opportunity to reiterate our support for the
Gaza peace plan which we hope will lead to a lasting and durable solution," EAM Jaishankar told Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Bin Rashid Alzayani in his opening remarks at the 5th High Joint Commission Meeting between India and Bahrain.
Jaishankar said that India and Bahrain shared a "common goal and commitment" for promoting peace and prosperity in the common region.
Further, he noted India's active role in the Manama-based multinational Combined Maritime Forces. "In September 2025, three Indian naval ships had visited Bahrain which helped to reinforce bilateral friendship and Indian Navy’s commitment to regional maritime security," the top Indian diplomat noted.
The Indian foreign minister expressed hope that Bahrain's presidency of the six-nation, Riyadh-headquartered Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) next month would further intensify New Delhi's ties with the region.
He said that both the countries have made "significant progress" in the areas of defence, security, trade & commerce, health, culture and people–to-people ties, while working to expand cooperation in newer areas such as space and healthcare.
"We welcome investors from Bahrain to come and explore investment opportunities in India. Conclusion of a Bilateral Investment Treaty, and the establishment of a Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment will further boost our economic ties," Jaishankar stated. He also thanked Alzayani for the welfare of the Indian diaspora in Bahrain, the largest expatriate community in the nation.
Jaishankar expressed confidence that the e-visa facility for Bahraini nationals started this year would encourage more visitors from Bahrain to travel to India.
